For my first recording i found a small garden fountain in a residents front yard in Wauwatosa. It sounded a bit more calming than typical water splashing. I carefully moved the mic rig from sides to side so the listener could hear the tranquil splashing travel across the headphones/speakers. I tried to do this as a slow gradual movement so that it wouldn't sound very abrupt or distracting.

I was walking through Jacobus Park when i stumbled upon 4 kids playing soccer. I sat down at a near by bench close to where the game was being played and recorded. Not only did i pick up competitive conversation and the kicking of the ball, but a distinct bird chirping and distant sound of an airplane can also be distinguished.

For this recording I sat on the curb of a road outside of Jacobus Park with my mic rig on the ground. I found this recording very interesting because the timing of sounds passing by. The first key sound is of a car driving by. It is almost immediately followed by a bicyclist, which is almost immediately followed by a jogger. The car came from the right, the bicyle from the left, and then the jogger from the right again. As I listened I thought of how in this case transportation was de-evolving in my mind.

I stumbled upon two guys working outside with power tools. They were working with wood on a staircase/railing to a house's front porch. Not only is the distinct buzzing of saws and drills picked up through loud bursts but the conversation of the two men and radio playing in the background adds an interesting ambiance to the more louder and focused sound of the power tools.

Kids @ School with Violin

While in the Wauwatosa area, I stumbled upon an elementary school. I made a few recordings here but the one that stood out the most was of a student practicing his violin for another student. I was very close to the violin and recorded a very clean, direct sound of the student plucking "Mary had a Little Lamb." In the background the playful ambience of students playing on the playground or talking to others makes this a more engrossing recording.
